Private Amsterdam tours by locals: real stories, not scripts

We're not actors in matching jackets. We're proud locals who genuinely love this chaotic, charming little city.

Our private tours in Amsterdam are led by real locals and shaped by lived experience, not guidebooks. Want the lowdown on that weird sculpture? The reason half the buildings lean like drunk uncles? The bar where Rembrandt used to sketch on napkins? You got it.

These aren't cookie-cutter outings but tours by locals in Amsterdam style, filled with the kind of stories you only hear over a good drink or a great slice of cheese.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions about our private tours

Are your private tours fully customizable? +

100%, our private Amsterdam tours are fully customizable. Want museums? More food? Less walking? Just say the word. We tailor every part of your private tour to you (and your feet's mood). Get in touch below and we aim to reply the same day.

What's the difference between a private tour and a group tour? +

The difference is who else comes along. Our public 10 Tastes of Amsterdam tour is a shared group of up to 12 guests on a set route, with departures every hour. A private tour is your group only, with your own guide, your own start time, and a route we adjust to you. No crowds, no awkward small talk with strangers, just your people and the city in all its unfiltered glory.

How long are your private Amsterdam day tours? +

Most private tours in Amsterdam run between 1.5 hours on the water and 6 hours for the full-day food tour. Private walking food tours take 3 to 3.5 hours, Haarlem and Utrecht run 3-4 hours, and the Schiphol layover tour is the long one at 5-7 hours. Every card on this page shows its own duration, so pick the one that fits your day and we build the rest around your curiosity.

Is food included in your private tours? +

Food is included on most private tours, and it's the good stuff. We skip the tourist traps and head straight for local gems (where the stroopwafels are hot and the beer is cold). Another perk of doing a private tour in Amsterdam with food-lovers like us.

Are your tours kid-friendly? +

Children are welcome on every private tour. Babies and toddlers under three come along for free, sit on a lap and do not take a seat; a child of four or older books a normal seat. We adjust stories, stops, and snacks to suit your crew, and we have had toddlers, teens, and even grumpy uncles. Because a great private tour works for every generation.

What does a private food tour cost? +

The private 10 Tastes of Amsterdam is one price per group, VAT included: €230 a person for a couple, €550 for four and €930 for ten, which works out at €93 a person at ten guests. Bike, boat and the other tours each show their own starting price on the card above.

Can I cancel or move a private tour? +

Cancel up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund. Want a different date or time instead? Message us on WhatsApp or email and we move the booking if a guide is free.

Where does a private tour start? +

The private 10 Tastes food tour usually starts at Gastrovino, Spuistraat 330, in the city center. If your hotel is within a 10 to 15 minute walk, your guide collects you from the lobby instead, at no extra charge. The other tours name their own start point on their page.

Which languages can a private tour be guided in? +

English is standard on every private tour. Dutch, Spanish, French and German are possible depending on guide availability, so ask when you book.

How late can a private tour start? +

The private walking food tour can start as late as 19:00, so an evening slot after museums or meetings works. Book 16:00 or earlier if the cured herring is on your list, because that is the one tasting an evening start drops.

Can a private tour be wheelchair accessible? +

A private walking tour in Amsterdam can run on a wheelchair-accessible route: tell us when you book and we pick stops a wheelchair can reach. The public 10 Tastes cannot do that, the cobblestones and the tiny venues rule it out.
