First, the disclaimer
I'm Otto. I founded Adam & Eve Tours in 2015 and I run one of the tours on this page, so read it knowing that. To keep myself honest, every price and group size below comes from the operator's own site or their Viator listing, and each competitor gets a real reason to book them. Amsterdam has several good food tours. Here is how they actually differ.
One difference worth knowing up front: Eating Europe, Secret Food Tours and Sherpa are international companies, and Ollantay is run by its French founder. We are the Amsterdam-born one, founder-run since 2015, and most of our guides are Dutch or longtime Amsterdam locals.

Honest reasons to book each one
Adam & Eve Tours (that's us)
You want the #1 featured food tour on TripAdvisor, ranked #2 of 251 food and drink experiences in Amsterdam (checked 6 July 2026). Guides guests know by name, drinks included, our own start location in a canal house cellar, and the lowest price when you book direct.
Eating Europe
You want the big international brand. Their Jordaan tour is in its 10th year, includes 16 tastings with 4 drinks, and regularly carries sell-out badges on Viator. The only operator close to our review volume, and the richest inclusions list in the city.
Ollantay Food Tour
You want the cheapest well-reviewed ticket on Viator, and TripAdvisor's #1 food tour by popularity ranking. Run by its French founder Romain, with departures guaranteed in English and French. Expect a bigger group and a more on-your-feet style: more standing and walking, less sitting down.
Hungry Birds
You want De Pijp street food and markets instead of the canal belt. Small groups of max 8, a longer 4-hour format, and 1,400+ TripAdvisor reviews mostly from guests who booked them direct. A different neighborhood and a different style, both good.
Secret Food Tours
You know their brand from another city, they run tours in 120+ cities worldwide. Their signature Secret Dish, revealed only on the tour, is a fun touch, and their Jordaan route covers similar classics at a mid-range price.
Sherpa Food Tours
You want a solid budget-friendly option from an international operator with a nice founder story (their roots are a Michelin-recognized asado experience in Buenos Aires). A smaller review base here, but near-perfect scores and drinks included.
Amsterdam Food Tours
You want the longest, smallest-group premium walk in this list. Four hours with a max of 8 guests and drinks included, at the same price point as Eating Europe but in a more boutique format.

On 6 July 2026 we were the #1 featured Amsterdam food tour on TripAdvisor and #2 of 251 in its food and drink popularity ranking, with a global top 5 spot in TripAdvisor's Best of the Best Food Tours 2026. Two more things nobody else has. The tour starts in our own spot: the cellar of Gastrovino, a beautiful canal house on the Spuistraat, where you taste cheeses before the walk even begins. And our guides are mostly Dutch or longtime Amsterdam locals telling their own city's stories, not reading a script.

There is no single best, it depends on what you want. Is a food tour in Amsterdam worth it? +
If you like eating and stories, yes. A good tour replaces a full meal, takes you to spots you would not find on your own, and teaches you why the Dutch eat what they eat. Guests regularly tell us it was the highlight of their trip. If you just want a cheap lunch, a food tour is the wrong product.

Four things. We have run the 10 Tastes of Amsterdam since 2015 and are still founder-run. Our groups are capped small, so the guide knows your name by the second stop.
