Our story
Adam stands for Amsterdam. Eve stands for temptation.
Put them together and you get what our Amsterdam food tours are about: the irresistible pull of real Dutch flavors and the stories that bring them to life.
From Otto, the founder
Hi, I'm Otto. History nut, professional talker, and the guy who started all this.
I founded Adam & Eve in 2015 with a simple idea: help travelers taste the real city, not the tourist version. Ten years later that is still the whole plan. Small groups of max 12, family-run food spots, and guides who love a good story.
Here is what I believe: food is the shortest route into a culture. Fresh herring at a family fishmonger tells you more about Amsterdam than any museum plaque. When guests say they stopped feeling like tourists for an afternoon, that is the whole point. We call it feeling Dutch for a day.
"I had my tour with Otto in April 2018. Why am I writing a review today? Because Otto was so memorable and truly the highlight of our vacation that I couldn’t help myself." 5-star TripAdvisor review
Today I run the company together with my wife Ira. We still hand-pick every tasting partner, train every guide, and taste everything ourselves. Someone has to. We own six bikes between us and live with a view over the canals.
The team
Meet your guides
Half our reviews mention the guide by name. Here is the team guests keep writing about, in their guests' own words.
Joeri
The most-named guide in our reviews. Tours with Joeri have a habit of running long, because nobody wants them to end.
"Joeri is a knowledgeable and personalable tour guide who immediately made us feel like we were just hanging out with a friend, chatting and eating along the way." 5-star TripAdvisor review
Kees
Deep Amsterdam knowledge and the patience to answer everything. Guests love that he gently fact-checks what they heard on other tours.
"He took us to great food spots, explained what we were eating and why it mattered, and was super knowledgeable (and great at answering questions and fact-checking things we heard on other tours)." 5-star TripAdvisor review
Dennis
On first-name terms with the shop owners along the route. Dennis also leads our Haarlem food tour.
"Dennis clearly has strong relationships with the vendors, which made each stop feel personal and authentic." 5-star TripAdvisor review
Todd
A storyteller first. Todd turns three hours of eating into Amsterdam history you'll actually remember.
"Todd brought the whole area to life with fascinating stories, fun facts, and local history along the way." 5-star TripAdvisor review
Maria
Warm, patient, and great with kids and picky eaters alike. Ask for her favorites.
"Whenever she gave us options, we always just asked her which was her favorite, and she never steered us wrong!" 5-star TripAdvisor review
Robin
Born and raised in Amsterdam. City knowledge you only get from growing up here.
"He was born & raised in Amsterdam so he knows the city by heart!" 5-star TripAdvisor review
Katya
Enthusiasm the Dutch weather can't dampen. Katya sends guests off knowing the city, and sometimes with a little parting gift.
"It rained the entire time but it was still an excellent tour - this was all because of our amazing tour guide Katya - her enthusiasm is infectious" 5-star TripAdvisor review
