Yes. Cancel up to 24 hours before the tour starts and you get a full refund. Need a different date or time instead? Email us and we will move you if there is space. Booked through Viator, GetYourGuide or another travel site? Their cancellation rules apply, so check your voucher.

It happens rarely, and only for a real reason: too few people booked, something outside our control such as severe weather or a strike, or a guide falls ill and no suitable replacement can be found. You then get a full refund of the amounts you paid us, or another date if you would rather keep the tour. Either way you hear it from us by email as soon as we know.

English. Every public departure is guided in English by an Amsterdam local, and you never need a word of Dutch. Dutch, Spanish, French and German are possible on a private tour, depending on guide availability, so ask us when you book.

Yes, just not on the public tour. Anything above 12 guests runs as a private food tour, and larger company groups are split into small groups with a guide each, so nobody ends up in a crowd. Tell us the number and the date and we come back with a plan.

No problem, and nothing is lost. The two included drinks can be swapped for coffee, tea or a soft drink, and the bottle of water is included either way. Just tell your guide at the first stop. Guests under 18 get the alcohol-free option by default, as 18 is the legal drinking age in the Netherlands.

Yes. You will enjoy 10+ tastings across 5 stops, most guests do not need lunch or dinner afterwards. It can easily replace a full meal, so come hungry.

At the first and the last stop you usually do, and often somewhere in the middle as well. The rest is standing or walking: these are tiny places in the canal belt, some of them 400 years old, so on a busy day there is not a chair for everyone. If you want to be seated at every stop, book the private version and we build the route around that.

We start at Gastrovino Amsterdam (Spuistraat 330) in the city center. The tour ends in the Jordaan, close to the Anne Frank House.

Every hour from 10:00 to 18:00, so yes, evenings too. Worth knowing before you pick a slot: the herring stop runs on 16:00 tours and earlier, so take an afternoon one if the cured herring is on your Amsterdam list.

Vegetarian and pescatarian work well on this tour, no problem there. Vegan is partial: about 70 to 80% of our stops have a vegan alternative, not all of them. Tell us when booking and your guide will steer you round the gaps. We can often do gluten-free too, and earlier tours tend to have more flexibility. Common allergies can come along on the regular tour: most stops have an alternative, and where a stop has none you skip that bite and get something extra at another stop. Halal works on this tour too, just say so when you book. You join most stops, usually with the vegetarian option, and the Surinamese stop has plenty of halal meat. It is an easy, scenic walk of about 2.5 km / 1.5 miles on the canal-side cobblestones. We keep a relaxed pace with plenty of stops and breaks. Foldable strollers and baby buggies are welcome, and a buggy occasionally waits just outside a small venue while the group steps in. This public tour is not wheelchair friendly though, the cobblestones and the tight little spots we visit rule that out. A private tour is the one we can shape around a wheelchair.

Comfortable shoes matter most: the route is about 2.5 km on canal-side cobblestones. Amsterdam weather turns fast, so bring a light rain jacket. None of the stops has a dress code.

Gastrovino Amsterdam is at Spuistraat 330, about an 8 minute walk from Dam Square and 5 minutes from Rokin metro, and an Uber can drop you nearby. Arrive 10 minutes early and taste some cheese at the entrance while the group gathers.

It is a walking tour from start to finish. No bus, no boat, no hotel pickup. You walk about 2.5 km over three hours, so most of the time you are standing still, eating.

Yes, there is one at the first stop and one at the last. In between, your guide knows the cafés along the route where you can step in for a minute, so just say the word.

Yes, families with young children are welcome, and the young ones get the alcohol-free version of both included drinks. There is no separate child price. A child of four or older books a normal seat and counts towards the maximum of 12, because a child eats close to what a grown-up eats. Babies and toddlers under three come along for free, sit on a lap, and do not take one of the 12 places.

Never more than 12 guests. Small enough to fit inside the bakeries and brown bars we visit, and for the guide to know your name by the second stop. Want it just your group? Book the private version.

You can. The public tour is a shared small group, so one person books one seat at €79, the same as everyone else. With a maximum of 12 guests and three hours of eating together, nobody is still a stranger by the last stop.

The tour runs in almost all weather, this is Amsterdam after all. Most tastings are indoors, and the guide adjusts the route when it pours. Bring a rain jacket and you'll be fine.

Try to be no more than 20 minutes late. Once the tour is moving it may not be possible to catch up with the guide, so leave a little buffer, or arrive 10 minutes early and taste some cheeses at the entrance.

No, not expected. Service is included in every Dutch price by law and your guide earns a proper wage, so nobody here is waiting on your tip.
