Why a food tour beats another bar crawl

Everyone eats, everyone drinks as much or as little as they want, and nobody spends the evening shouting over music. You get the group photos on the prettiest bridges, the stories behind 750 years of Amsterdam, and a guide who keeps the day moving so nobody has to be the organizer.

It works for mixed groups too: the herring skeptics, the vegetarians, the one friend who's pregnant and the one who wants a double jenever. Private means we plan around all of them.

"joeri was the best tour guide, so much fun :) everything was delicious, stroopwafels & cheese were the highlight but also pushed me out of my comfort zone with jenever and salted herring."

"Joeri was absolutely fantastic definitely the best part of our entire trip. Couldn’t recommend enough, he was so knowledgeable and funny it made the atmosphere of the group incredible!"

About the boat tour

What does the afternoon look like?

  1. 1

Start with a cheese tasting in the Gastrovino cellar, a canal house basement all to yourselves.

  2. 2

Warm stroopwafels at a 200-year-old bakery, group photos on the prettiest canal bridges between stops.

  3. 3

A jenever toast in a candlelit brown bar, the moment to raise a glass to the bride (or the birthday, or the reunion).

  4. 4

Finish in the Jordaan with poffertjes, apple pie and a last drink, full, happy and with the whole evening still ahead of you.

That's the classic route. Private means we bend it: different start time, a boat in the middle, a surprise stop, tell us what you're imagining.

Good to know

Party planning questions, answered

How much does a private food tour for a bachelorette party cost? +

A private 10 Tastes of Amsterdam food tour is €650 for 6 guests, €790 for 8 and €930 for 10, VAT included. That covers your own guide, 10+ tastings and drinks for 3.5 hours. A private wine and cheese tasting tour uses the same prices. Groups up to 30 are possible.

Do we get to drink on the tour? +

Yes, and the good stuff. A jenever tasting in a candlelit brown bar, wine or local liquor along the route, and non-alcoholic options for anyone pacing themselves. It's a tasting crawl, not a bar crawl, everyone still remembers the evening.

Can you add a canal boat to the party? +

Yes. Our private boat tour with drinks and Dutch bites is 90 minutes on the canals with your own captain, and it combines well with a walking tour before or after. Tell us your group size and we'll quote the combination.

What if some of us are vegetarian or have allergies? +

Tell us when you book. On a private tour we plan the stops around vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free and most allergies, so nobody stands around watching the others eat.

Can you help us surprise the bride? +

We like an excuse. Tell us the occasion in the booking form and we'll plan it with you, from a toast at the right moment to routing past a spot that means something to your group.

Does this work for birthdays, anniversaries and friend trips too? +

Absolutely. The setup is the same: your group, your guide, your pace. We host birthdays, reunions, anniversaries and 'we finally got everyone in one city' trips all year.
