Company Christmas Party in Amsterdam: A Food Tour Instead of a Set Menu

Planning the company Christmas party in Amsterdam, or what the Dutch call a kerstborrel? Adam & Eve Tours runs it as a private food tour built around your team: 3 hours, 10 tastings at 5 stops across Spui, the UNESCO canals and the Jordaan, 2 drinks, and a dedicated local guide. It costs €99 per person excluding VAT, €119.79 per person including 21% Dutch VAT, and private team tours run for 2-200 guests, with larger groups on request.

Why a food tour works as the year-end party

Think of it as a walking dinner party instead of one long table and a set menu. The group moves and mixes at every stop, your guide brings the stories about Amsterdam and Dutch food, and there are no trust falls and no awkward games. It works as the whole evening, or as the first half before your own dinner or drinks.

An evening start, and where the night ends

The tour runs as breakfast, lunch or dinner, and a private tour can start as late as 19:00. One thing to know: the herring stop runs on tours that start at 16:00 or earlier, so a later start gets a different tasting in its place. End wherever suits: wrap at a bar for a last drink, roll into dinner, or step onto a private boat.

The whole company, in small groups

A big group does not walk as one crowd. On a food tour we split the party at 12 guests per guide, and one guide can take up to 15 if you ask. Each group gets its own guide and runs in parallel, and the groups usually share the same final stop, so the whole party is back together for the last drink. How a bigger party runs, with boats, coaches and one contact all day, is on the large group tours page.

Part of the party on the water

A private canal boat fits before or after the walk. One boat seats up to 30, a larger boat takes up to 50, and a bigger party goes on several boats side by side. Bigger still? We take up to 150 guests on the canals. Tell us your numbers and we will quote it.

Diets, drinks and the invoice

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal are covered on every team tour; give us a heads-up. Colleagues who do not drink are covered too, since coffee, tea and soda are on the drinks list. And booking through the company works the way your finance team expects: we invoice your company directly, with the company name, address and VAT number on it, or you pay by card through a payment link, virtual and corporate cards included.

December weather

Weather never cancels a team tour. This is Amsterdam, we do not stop for rain, and most tastings are inside or covered.

How to book it

Know your date and headcount? Book the team tour online for up to 50 guests. For a bigger party, or a plan with a boat or a venue, tell us your dates, group size and what the evening is for, and we send a proposal and exact pricing the same day.

If no December evening suits the whole team, the same tour works as a January or February kick-off at the same team price. Most tastings are inside or covered, so a cold day is no problem; see team outings and kick-offs.

Good to know

Company Christmas party questions, answered

Can a food tour be our company Christmas party in Amsterdam? +

Yes. Adam & Eve Tours runs the company Christmas party as a private food tour: 3 hours, 10 tastings at 5 stops, 2 drinks and a dedicated local guide, for 2-200 guests. With 10 tastings and two drinks, most guests do not need a meal afterwards.

What does a company Christmas party on a food tour cost? +

The 3-hour, 10-tasting private team tour is €99 per person excluding VAT. That is €119.79 per person including 21% Dutch VAT. Extras such as a private boat or a premium drinks package are priced in the proposal, which we send the same day you tell us your group size.

How late can the party start? +

A private tour can start as late as 19:00. The herring stop runs on tours that start at 16:00 or earlier, so an evening start swaps that one tasting for something else.

We are 80 people. Does that still work? +

It does. Private team tours run for 2-200 guests, and larger groups on request. A big group walks in smaller groups of 12 per guide, up to 15 with one guide if you ask, and the groups usually share the same final stop, so the whole company ends up together.

Can part of the evening be on a boat? +

One private boat seats up to 30, a larger boat takes up to 50, and bigger parties go on several boats side by side. On the water we host groups of up to 150 guests. Tell us your numbers and we will quote it.

Some colleagues do not drink, and some are vegan or eat halal. Is that a problem? +

No problem. Coffee, tea and soda are on the drinks list, and vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal are covered on every team tour. Give us a heads-up when you book.

Can we pay for the Christmas party by invoice? +

We invoice your company directly, with the company name, address and VAT number on the invoice, or you pay by card through a payment link, virtual and corporate cards included.

What if it rains or it is freezing? +

Weather never cancels a team tour; this is Amsterdam, we do not stop for rain. Most tastings are inside or covered. With a good coat and great snacks, your team will be just fine.

Can we cancel or move the Christmas party? +

Free cancellation on a team tour runs up to 48 hours before the start. Need a different date or time instead? Tell us as soon as your plan shifts and we move the group if a guide is free.

Can a colleague in a wheelchair join the Christmas party? +

A colleague in a wheelchair can join. Tell us in your enquiry and your guide adapts the route to make it wheelchair friendly. A foldable wheelchair makes it easier.

Are there toilets along the way? +

There is a toilet at the first stop and one at the last on a team tour. In between, your guide knows the cafés along the route where colleagues can step in for a minute, so just say the word.

Which languages can the Christmas party be guided in? +

The Christmas party tour is guided in English as standard. Dutch, Spanish, French, German, Russian and Ukrainian are possible depending on guide availability, so name the language in your enquiry.

Is tipping expected at the Christmas party? +

Tipping is not expected on a team tour, or anywhere in the Netherlands: your guide is paid properly. If they made the evening, a tip is welcome and always optional.

Can we pay for the Christmas party in US dollars? +

Prices are in euros. Your company can pay by invoice, or by card through a payment link, and a card is charged in euros. Your bank converts the amount, so check whether your card adds a foreign transaction fee.

How far ahead should we book the Christmas party? +

Book as early as you can. A bigger party needs several guides on the same evening, so an early date gives us the most choice. For a date that is close, message us on WhatsApp at +31 6 23028032 and we will tell you straight away whether a guide is free.
