The tour takes 3 hours with 10+ tastings and 2 drinks, never more than 12 guests, at €85 per person booked direct. A private tour can start as late as 19:00 and is €460 for one or two guests, then €70 for each extra guest up to six (four guests pay €600) and €95 for each guest from the seventh (ten guests pay €1,120), VAT included.

It does. 10+ tastings across 5 stops, sweet and savory, plus two drinks: most guests do not need a meal afterwards. That fits the Dutch clock, because kitchens here fill from 18:00 and many stop serving around 21:30, so a tour that starts at 17:00 or 18:00 eats at the hour locals eat.

A private tour can start as late as 19:00, which is why it suits guests who spend the day in museums or in meetings. Morning and afternoon starts are open too, so tell us the time that fits your day and we will build around it. You meet at Gastrovino Amsterdam, Spuistraat 330, about an 8 minute walk from Dam Square and 5 minutes from Rokin metro. The tour ends in the Jordaan, close to the Anne Frank House, a lovely area to keep the evening going.

Vegetarian and pescatarian work well on the evening departures, no problem there. Vegan is partial: about 70 to 80% of our stops have a vegan alternative, not all of them. Halal works on the evening tour too, just say so when you book: you join most stops, usually with the vegetarian option. Skipping the alcohol is no problem. The two included drinks can be swapped for coffee, tea or a soft drink, and the bottle of water is included either way. Just tell your guide at the first stop. Guests under 18 get the alcohol-free option by default, as 18 is the legal drinking age in the Netherlands.

About 2.5 km / 1.5 miles on canal-side cobblestones, at a relaxed pace with plenty of stops and breaks. Foldable strollers and baby buggies are welcome. This public tour is not wheelchair friendly though, the cobblestones and the tight little spots we visit rule that out. A private tour is the one we can shape around a wheelchair, and it can start as late as 19:00.

It runs in almost all weather, this is Amsterdam after all. Most tastings are indoors, and the guide adjusts the route when it pours. Bring a rain jacket and you will be fine.

Try to be no more than 20 minutes late. Once the tour is moving it may not be possible to catch up with the guide, so leave a little buffer.

No, tipping is not expected on the evening food tour. Service is included in every Dutch price by law and your guide earns a proper wage. If your guide made your evening, a tip is welcome and always optional, cash or PayPal.
